Fly High!

Fly High

Hello again! I really enjoyed making this week’s card and it took a long time as a newbie!! I took inspiration for this week’s card from Samantha mann on youtube. You can see this video here - Lawn Fawn Fly High Shadow Box Card (youtube.com)

Things I used to make this card -

  • Shadow Box Die cut set - Lawn Fawn
  • Stamp and Die cut sets from Lawn Fawn - Fly High, You Autumn Know, Virtual Friends add on, Love Poems, Dandy Day Flip Flop, and Superstar.
  • Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink Pad
  • Distress Oxide in Salvaged Patina, Peackock Feathers, Mowed lawn and Distress Ink in Twisted Citron.
  • Hobby Craft - Watercolour Woodland 12 x 12” paper pad.
  • Sizzix Big Shot Plus Die Cutting Machine
  • Stamping Platform
  • Sanjoki Art Colours
  • All the clouds stencil - Lawn Fawn
  • White Card
  • glue tape
  • double sided tape
  • foam tape

So first things first, I used the Lawn Fawn shadow box die cuts to cut out the two grassy hills and the two parts of the main body, cutting out the bigger square from one of the main body’s. I did the same with the Hobby Craft paper and stuck them together.

I then used the two blue Ink Pads to create an ombre on top of the card. I took a small square of white card and used the cloud stencil with the two same blue inks and the two green inks I used on the grassy hills. I then let it all dry.

Whilst that was drying I stamped out all the bits I needed, (see photo and list of materials), and coloured them in. My blending is rubbish at the moment, but I’m learning with practice! I then die cut all these pieces out.

I used double sided tape to fix my box together and to stick the cloud background on the back wall.

Now is the fun part, time to get creative sticking all the little characters down. I took some inspiration from Samantha on where she placed her items, but I also changed some things and added in my own too.

For this I used glue tape and also foam tape for that 3D look.

I really enjoyed making this card and please let me see you creations using the shadow box! It’s so much fun to work with!!
